Provoker (2024)

Provoker is an armchair drawing inspiration from existentialist ideas by philosopher Albert Camus. It emhasises the idea of inherent flaws and uncertainties of existence, finding meaning and purpose within them.

On the left side, the design draws from Art Deco with Biomorphic Patterns, which derived from organic shapes found in nature. It underscores the visual elegance and glamour integrated into the chair's design to create visually striking aesthetics.

On the right side, Brutalism influences the design, with a focus on honesty in materials. Prioritising raw materials and functionality, reflecting the minimalist approach to design.

Combining these two movements into the design, which inherently contradict each other, serves to highlight the theme of "inherent flaws". Users who embrace both the concept and design of the chair find resonance in "finding meaning and purpose within them".
